Leading independent hardware specialist Total Hardware has upgraded its popular Duration Friction Hinge range with the introduction of new grey and black end caps, designed to clearly differentiate between 13mm and 17mm stack heights and support faster, more accurate fabrication.
Designed by and exclusive to Total Hardware, the Duration Friction Hinge is widely specified across PVC-U, aluminium and timber window systems. The latest enhancement builds on its established design, introducing a simple but effective visual distinction that helps fabricators quickly identify the correct hinge on the shop floor.

The encapsulated end cap design plays a key role in performance, helping to improve gasket compression for enhanced weather sealing and draught proofing. The colour differentiation, supported by colour-coordinated packaging, provides an immediate visual cue, streamlining processes and reducing the risk of incorrect selection during fabrication.
As with the wider Duration range, the hinge is designed for consistent, dependable operation. Geometries are developed to self-balance open-out casement windows, while options for both top and side hung applications ensure flexibility across a wide range of window types.
Available in 13mm and 17mm stack heights, the hinges are endurance tested to 25,000 cycles and meet BS6375 performance standards, underlining their suitability for long-term use.
Manufactured in both Ferritic 430 and Austenitic 304 Stainless Steel options, the range is backed by up to a 25-year mechanical guarantee and is Secured by Design accredited, reinforcing its quality and security credentials.
