Leading independent hardware specialist Total Hardware has enhanced its security portfolio with the introduction of the Duration 3 Star Cylinder, delivering advanced protection against modern attack methods alongside dependable everyday performance.
The new cylinder features Always Locked Protection System (ALPs) technology, offering defence against all known break-in techniques, including newer threats such as thermal manipulation and twist attacks.

At the heart of the design is a series of advanced security features, including SnapStop technology to prevent access if the cylinder is snapped and ALPs TwistTrap, which activates instantly under attack to maintain a locked state. A vented keyway design further protects against thermal manipulation, while 16 hardened anti-drill points provide exceptional resistance to drilling. A horizontal keyway also acts as a visual deterrent to potential intruders.
Ease of specification and stockholding has also been carefully considered. Each cylinder is non-handed, with dual-colour styling as standard to suit a wide range of hardware finishes, helping fabricators reduce inventory complexity without compromising on choice.
The cylinder is supported by a high-quality key design, featuring high-precision dimple and snake cut keys, enhanced key control and up to 870,000 unique key combinations. Bespoke key suiting is also available, allowing multiple doors to be operated with a single key for added convenience.
Further reinforcing its credentials, the Duration 3 Star Cylinder is Secured by Design accredited, meets Police Preferred Specification and is backed by a £5,000 security guarantee and a 10-year mechanical guarantee, giving complete peace of mind for both installers and end users.
